This page is dedicated to our dogs which are a very important part of our family.  They are young and a bit on the insane side, but definitely provide the comic relief for our busy lives.

Some of our greatest historical and artistic treasures are placed in museums; others, we take for walks. -Roger Caras

When we named you Sippewisset (aka Sippe) we never thought through the confusion we would create by saying “sippy cups”.

I guess that Sierra is too large to contain to just one blog so the breeders at Rocky Mountain Puppies have dedicated a page just for her. Check out her second blog here

Sierra Annual Update 4.29.09

Jonathan wasn’t the only one that got to go to the doctor this week. Ms. Sierra got her annual vet visit this weekend and she is officially 80 lbs of pure Bernese muscle. The vet was very pleased with her weight and does not believe that she is going to grow any larger but she does want us to start brushing her pearly white teeth.  (I will leave that Bernese wrangling up to Michael.)

I found this video of Bailey in Ely, MN so amusing that I had to post it. Sippe would be so jealous.

RMP Calendar Contest

Thanks to all those who voted for Sierra in the first ever Rocky Mountain Puppies calendar contest. Unfortunatly, she did not win a calendar to chew on but you can see the winners here:

Little Helper

Sierra Helping Unpack

Sierra has decided to contribute towards finishing the nursery by unpacking boxes.  We would like to think that her intention is towards that end and not necessarily to chew on packing straps and cardboard.

My Time has come!

Sierra\'s Stance

Sierra has encountered a growth spurt that easily puts her weight over 30lbs and at 4 months she is not even close to being done.  I would estimate that it won’t be much longer before she’s running the household and sleeping in the bed at night.  Already we’ve had to put down several nighttime bed coups.

Sierra Resting

Sierra is growing quickly, but needs the occassionalpuppynap after wrestling with Sippe, our border collie.  She has no particular spot to crash; its not a matter of where but when.

Making Herself at Home

Sierra and the Swim Bag

Sierra and Swim Towel

Sierra is enjoying the comforts around the house, but one of her more peculiar habits is falling in love with my swim bag.  Every evening she’ll search this bag out and use it for her place to sleep.  It doesn’t matter to her that I went swimming that day; the towel and the rest of its contents inside smell of chlorine pool water (not my favorite smell in the world).  I hate to tell her but it’s only going to be a matter of months before she outgrows it.

Sierra’s Arrival

This is a short clip of Sierra’s arrival to her new house.  She is playful and has all the energy that one would expect of a puppy.   As you’ll see, we’ve had all the diversity of weather known in Colorado for the past two days…beautiful warm weather and next day snow.  It’s quite evident that Sierra enjoys new fallen snow and put Sippe through her paces as well.

Sierra’s Mom

This is Sierra’s mom, Sadie.  As you can tell from the picture, Bernese Mountain dogs border into the category of large dog, usually 80 – 100 lbs.  Sierra as of this week is alittle over 10 lbs so more than likely only 1/10th of her final adult weight.  Time for us to start visiting Costco for our dog food from now on.

Sierra - Puppy Picture

Hi! I am Sierra, a Bernese Mountain Dog.  Ok, I’m just a puppy now at around 5 lbs, but I’m growing fast.
I am quickly counting down to March 1st when Heather, Michael and Sippe will be taking me to my new home.
You can’t see it now, but my tail is wagging like crazy with excitement.

This is my border collie sister, Sippewisset, playing in the Rocky Mountain snow.  It looks like a lot of fun!
