Happy 23 Months to Me 6.25.10

On the eve of JMO’s 2nd Birthday he is experiencing many changes. His crib was converted into a daybed with rails and he is beginning his transition from Toddlers to the Mini class. He is now aware when he is wet and needs be changed so it’s time for us to contemplate potty training.

He still insists on taking a football or basketball where ever he goes, learned to climbing up the slide backwards (much to my dismay), loves to wear my old bicycle helmet on his tricycle, decided that the swing actually is fun, and most of all he likes to throw everything “up high”.

This month he has also become a little more vocal by yelling at Michael “Daddy come” or Sierra “Come” “No bark”.  He also has knack of finding the tags on his shirt, toys and blankets and asking me to “cut off”.

This month JMO took his 3rd airplane ride to San Diego to visit Shamu, Legoland, the Hong Family and the San Diego Zoo. For the first time ever he got to play in the Pacific ocean where he enjoyed throwing rocks and shells back into the ocean. We had ducks in our pond at the hotel that would come up to the sliding glass door and visit him which he referred to as “rubber ducks”. From the trip JMO remembers Shamu the most and will spend a lot of time telling you “whale jump high” “clap for whale” “mama’s camera” (translation – the whales jump high and we clapped for the whale as he played with Mama’s camera.)

This month we had Grandpa Ollom, Uncle Aaron and Grandma and Grandpa Daly visit. When company comes to town JMO eats up the attention and becomes very chatty and silly.

His favorite activity is throwing rocks in the back pond and playing with the touchdown (football). This month he is able to say “zucchini” and can remember lyrics from “Take me out to the Ball Game”.

At 21 months old, JMO has decided that he wants to walk everywhere and explore. We have ventured out to the zoo a couple of times and he is able to walk half of the zoo before he needs to be carried and he walked all the way home from REI last week.

By far his favorite words right now are “Hot Broccoli” and he loves to scream it at the store with the picture of broccoli  on the windows during our daily commute. His favorite meal now is anything that needs sauce (BBQ Sauce) and he has a new love of grapes.

Bath time has become a challenge once again. He would rather hang over the edge and play with toys than sit in the bubbles. Consequently, it make bath time very short now.

On Friday we had a parent teacher conference to discuss JMO’s progress. He is quickly mastering all his skills and  knows all of the songs, books and signs. Many of the books and songs he is able to finish the lyrics and the sentences for  the teachers.

At 20 months, JMO has a new found love for the outdoors. He has spent many hours this month playing in the snow and learning from Daddy how to throw snowballs at the back fence. We have been also fortunate enough to have many 60+ days were we have enjoyed going to Central Park in Stapleton, watching the St. Patrick’s day parade and going on stroller rides in the BOB.

Happy 19 Months Old to Me 2.25.10

At 19 months JMO has started showing his silly imaginative side. He likes to run around the house saying “Go! Go! Go!”, playing with cars, pushing the small table around in the backyard,  mimics our laughs and wants honey or parmesan cheese on everything. He also named his blanket dog Coco all by himself and can say “excited”.

This month he also told me “Daddy Rocket” which is his way of understanding that Michael took a plane ride to Houston and “Honey Choo-Choo” which means he wants toothpaste out of the tube with Thomas the Train on it.

This month hasn’t gone by without lots of worrying about his constant cold and cough and a case of Roseola. It seems like we’ve have had 3 bad weeks and 1 week of recovery and very little uninterrupted sleep. Through it all his attitude that been surprisingly good as he plays cars and runs around the house screaming “Go! Go! Go!”.

Happy 18 Months Old to Me 1.25.10

Yesterday we went to JMO’s 18 month appointment. He now weights in at 23lbs 4oz (16th percentile) and his head circumference has decrease to only the 85th percentile. We have to return next week for a flu booster and at that time they will try to remeasure his height/length due to him being uncooperative for the nurse.  (He has caught on to what happens at the Dr’s office and he shrieks at the sight of any nurse.)

During the first month of 2010 JMO has enjoyed watching Elmo, celebrating with Riley her 4th Birthday party at Casa Bonita (he found the gun fight frightening between Black Bart and the Sheriff), being read I Love Monkey, sing “High Note” and “Low Note” on key (which he learned from Little Einsteins), proclaiming “TA-DA”  with arms up when he is proud of his accomplishment, can recognize the number 2 when shown on a flash card, his favorite food is pears and if we would let him he would wear his snow boots all the time.

This month we received the best gift as parents…our first “I love”.
