This area is dedicated towards my challenges and goals.  By keeping a log of my progress towards these endeavors, it will help inspire me to try harder and focus on the finish line.

It’s my life.

Happy Anniversary

For our second anniversary, Heather surprised me with an introductory flight lesson at Rocky Mountain Airport.  I’ve always been wishing to try this since I was a kid, but never had the opportunity.  So on a beautiful Saturday in October, I got to go up and actually fly the plane (Cessna Trainer) for an hour.   Here are some of the photos from the flight.  Thanks so much, Heather!

Pictured here is the family’s new hobby.   Heather has mentioned taking  photography as a hobby and for that the right camera is necessary.   Not to get too technical, but this baby shoots around 12 megapixels and can go around 4.5 pictures a second.  While photographs are it’s main function, it can also shoot HD video as well.  Expect to see the results fairly soon on this blog.

Swim to Bike Transition
On Sunday June 15th, the 5430 Sprint Triathlon was run in Boulder, Colorado.  This was my first opportunity to participate in this race which is combined events of a 1/2 mile swim, 17 mile bike and 3.1 mile run.  While my swimming and running were on par with the event, my biking was 15 – 20 minutes slower than I would hope.  Overall my time was an hour and 59 minutes with a time of 1 hour and 9 minutes going to the leader (basically I would need my motorcycle to keep up with him).

Next year I expect to focus more on my cycling and make up that 15 – 20 minutes towards my goal.  In summary though it was a great event and I enjoyed the chance to compete with such driven athletes.

My sincerest thanks for my loving wife Heather, her parents and sister for coming out and supporting me during the race.

Bolder Boulder 10K

Bolder Boulder -Finish

This year was the very first time I participated in the Bolder Boulder 2008 on May 26th.  Every year this race manages to get more popular and you can definitely see why with all the bands, volunteers and the location.  For 2008, there were over 54,000 racers covering the 10K or little over 6 miles through Boulder’s downtown.  I was using this race as my break-in for the triathlon coming on June 15th which will have a shorter running distance.  My finish time for this race was 57 minutes 51 seconds, but with a better understanding of the course I will push to do better next year.
